The emblem of Grindelwald

The emblem of Grindelwald consists of an ascending chamois and 7 stars. The chamois became Grindelwald's heraldic animal because it adorned the "Honour and Free Shooting" flag as early as 1899. The 7 stars on the coat of arms represent the 7 mountain communities.

Fun Fact: In the past, the stars and the chamois were missing from the emblem. At that time, the emblem was practically identical to the state emblem of Austria and had to be changed. It took several attempts to get Grindelwald's emblem of today.
The current emblem of the well-known Eiger village has been in circulation since 1993 and is about to celebrate its 30th birthday.
